Ramadan is a special time in Bethlehem as people celebrate for a whole month prior to welcoming the Feast of Al Fiter. Streets and businesses are not as busy and as crowded during the day, but the celebrations begin at night after all Muslims have gathered around the dinner table with their families to enjoy Al Iftar Meal. Several events are implemented during the Holy Month, and many restaurants set up tents and prepare special foods, especially the delicious Katayef dessert, to welcome guests who come and enjoy a bite and a hubbly bubbly until the late night hours. All the streets are decorated with beautiful lanterns, crescents and lights, and there is always an event for children, especially the Ramadan Parade, which is managed by the same group that launched the Bethlehem Christmas Parade.
