Established in 2011, the Landscape Eco-Museum has become a main attraction for tourists who come and visit Battir. Carrying a rather interesting slogan that goes along the lines of “our museum is under the sky, not a roof,” the museum entails a landscape project that aims to contribute to protecting and valorizing cultural and natural landscapes in Palestine by developing a model for the sustainable use of the area. This open museum offers visitors the opportunity to explore the landscape in and around Battir. It also offers them hiking trips in the surrounding valleys from Al Makhrour to the village of Husan, while exploring the agricultural terraces, natural water springs, ancient ruins, olive presses and many other attractions. Visitors are also introduced to Battir’s traditional irrigation system, and then invited to experience the hospitality of villagers over a home-prepared meal. Guests who wish to spend the night at the village may stay at Dar Abu Hassan’s bed and breakfast.
